Chapter 7: April 1938

Yesterday I went to a Pentecostal tabernacle with Helen and Mrs. Smith--it was so lovely! We also saw some pictures of China, which I’ve never seen before, and it seemed so different from anything I’ve ever seen before. I guess staying here in Canada really limits my view on the rest of the world, since I’ve never left my home. China would be fantastic to visit someday.
I’ve been feeling sick lately so I stayed in bed till 2:30 today. Not the best idea on a normal day because I end up feeling so lazy, but today it was nice. I didn’t want to get up at all but Ken came over and we went to Loew’s to catch a show. That’s about all we do now since we’re not up to much, but it’s still fun.
The other Millie and I went to Kellogg’s for a job. I sure hope something comes out of that; I’ve been doing absolutely nothing lately. Mostly just going out to the theater, going out for coffee with some girl friends or with Kenny, then staying at home and listening to ghost stories. The bad part is that Ken works nights, so he can’t stay very late most days. That’s a bummer because the best stories are on the radio late at night.
Went to Kellogg’s again but they don’t need me just now. Maybe later; I guess I’ll keep trying back. I went to see Mrs. Smith today and she has a nice new set of teeth--good thing too since her real teeth were really bothering her. So I’m happy she can be comfortable now. Kenny was sick so he didn’t go into work, but that meant I got to see him a bit more than usual. Poor thing, I just wish he were feeling better. I applied for a job at French Dry Cleaners but I didn’t get that one either. Why won’t anyone hire me?!
