Chapter 9: June 1938
Now that it’s June I think all the rain wants to come crashing down. It’s been pouring like crazy these last few days, I don’t even want to go out. I had my perm today so I can’t get my hair wet--I’ve mostly been sitting at home. I got some sewing done but it’s rather dull without Kenny here. I don’t even like my hair much; maybe I should get it wet just so it goes away.
Haven’t done much else. Minded Louie’s kids for a couple evenings. Had some sodas at Schneider’s. Kenny came over at last and it was like a breath of fresh air. It’s great to be in love. We went out dancing the other night, which was just lovely.
I’m going to work nearly every day now. So nice to have a steady job so I’m not so bored anymore. Then when I come home I really can relax, take a bath, go shopping. I got some new shoes I can wear to work too!
My life has been pretty bland these past six months--I’ve worked a little, spent so much time with my dear Kenny, gone to the theatre and out for sodas quite a bit. But I’m really looking forward to what the next few years bring.
